What’s On

At the White Elephant Enclosure.

Following the departure of the Smalltown Culture and Arts Manager (SCAM) you could be forgiven for thinking that the White Elephant Enclosure is currently on an even deeper downward spiral than it has been before, however, it seems that this isn’t the case.

Whilst the WEE website may be in dire need of an update, as it still references staff who have departed and events which are over, it seems the SCAM’s recruit, the Smalltown Culture and Marketing Person (SCAMP) Billy Elliot has put in more effort than the SCAM ever did to organise some events at the WEE in February.

This afternoon you can catch another one of the SCAM’s ill-fated brilliant-idea Classic Film screenings ‘Dancin’ in the Drain’. If you do decide to go along you’ll be sharing the space with seven other people, which means a total of £35 has gone into the WEE coffers.

On Friday it’s Comedy Night as the White Elephant Enclosure Mismanagement Committee take to the stage for their latest meeting. Expect plenty of belly-laughs as they try to act the part of entertainment business moguls.

Described as the ‘Best organ player this side of the Atlantic’ (Ed – I bet Squire Teflon would disagree with that, from what I’ve heard he’s always playing with his organ.) Jim Trailer takes to the WEE stage on Saturday night. Almost half the tickets have sold for this and there’s also the option of making it a full on night out with a pre-show Cottage Pie dinner in Bellend Cafe for an extra tenner.

Moving on to Saturday 11th February and Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council’s BeFuddled Party Councillors take to the stage once more, this time to star in an adaptation of ‘Teechers’ which brings to life an array of terrifying pupils and hopeless teachers. Better be quick if you want to catch this, as there’s only 166 seats left.

So far there’s been absolutely no tickets sold for the screening of an old kids’ film which is being shown as part of the series of ‘Pay Something, Anything, Please. Free Sausage‘ attempt to lure in unsuspecting families,

On the 18th February a Cate Shush tribute act will be performing in front of a half empty WEE auditorium and on Thursday 23rd you can join a select audience to watch a live screening of a performance of Odfellow from the National Theatre.

Finally, you could be the first person to book a seat for the Sing-a-Long screening of Bitch Perfect. A tribute to Squire Teflon’s close-friend Mistress Bones.

Gosh, SomersetClive can’t remember having to detail so many acts at the WEE before. If this varied programme of events doesn’t triple income then nothing will. Although it should be noted that this isn’t going to come without a cost, as the running costs are fully expected to nonuple.
