Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Headmistress, Mayor and Dictator Cllr Kelsey Dullard travelled from her home in Bedmore to Dullbridge on Saturday to attend a meeting organised jointly by the Our Dullbridge community group and Wildlife Somerset to showcase their new Purple and Orange Pathways Project (POPP).
POPP aims to introduce people to a network of pathways which take in the last remaining green areas of Dullbridge, which run alongside the River Brewer.
It is hoped that in time the project will link Dullbridge to Dalstonbury which could see increased use of these footpaths to bring more people into the town centre.
Dictator Dullard said “I can’t believe that Our Dullbridge thought they could get away with organising this project without the input of myself and Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council, especially when they knew full well that there would be a photo opportunity.
I’ve had no alternative but to turn up without an official invitation, throw my weight around and squeeze into the photo in order to make it look as if I’ve been involved from the start.
Community engagement is an essential phrase included in Town Council’s Climate Rescue Action Plan (CRAP), even though it is not something we actually encourage. I have spent months writing up my CRAP ideas and plan to spend many more months talking CRAP, so it waa incredibly galling to find out that Our Dullbridge has just been getting on with things and doing this without me.”
Rach Cool, one of the directors of Our Dullbridge said “We all let out a collective groan when we saw Dictator Dullard in the audience for our presentation, because we knew that at some point she would try to claim credit for our work.
Luckily we managed to keep her confined to the audience and didn’t allow her access to the microphones, otherwise we’d probably still be there listening to one of her long-winded lectures.
We have put a lot of work into forging partnerships with other groups and organisations in Somerset to bring good things to Dullbridge, and we have had a great deal of success organising events for our community without any help whatsoever from SaD Town Council, so it’s disappointing to see Dictator Dullard trying to take over.”
