COLCEWAAGTE was ‘Valuable lesson’

Sadgebore District Council’s Cost of Living Crisis Emergency We Are All Going to Die Event (COLCEWAAGTDE) held at the White Elephant Enclosure, was a “huge success” according to a spokesperson for Sadgebore, despite the fact that very few residents of Smalltown and Dullbridge attended.

Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Councillor and Deputy Headmistress Eugenie Sherry said “It has been a wonderful event, with lots of different support groups on hand with advice and leaflets for residents. Sadly, hardly any residents turned up, but members of the support groups had a good day out and found it enjoyable to spend time chatting amongst themselves to fill the hours.

We have realised that the lack of attendance may be because the majority of residents in Smalltown aren’t that poor. Research from the event hosts, Sadgebore District Council, always indicates that residents in Dullbridge are much poorer. In fact, the town always scores highly in league tables of Poverty Stricken Towns, with many residents living below the poverty line and we believe that the residents probably couldn’t afford the bus fare to Smalltown to attend the event.

With hindsight this has proved a valuable lesson in terms of taking an event to the people who need it, rather than hoping they will come to you. On the plus side though, Sadgebore did contribute some much needed rental income to the White Elephant Enclosure coffers by hiring the place to hold the event.”

Cllr Sherry confirmed that Sadgebore will be investigating the possibility of hosting the event again, but this time in Dullbridge. That is if they can find it on the map.
