Residents of Smalltown have been phoning the SomersetClive office in their dozens to report strange patterns on the beach.
The symbols, which were made up of a series of concentric circles were spotted on Sunday morning and seemed to have been made under cover of darkness.
Members of the Smalltown Area Ship, Hovercraft and Helicopter were called out to the scene to investigate and a spokeswellie said “We were called out at 09.25hrs, and once we had finished our breakfast, we made our way to the scene.
Upon arrival we saw a series of concentric circles marked on the beach. We spent some time looking at the symbols and scratching our heads, before returning to SMASHH HQ to hose down our equipment.
As we were leaving the scene we passed several members of the Really Needy Lifesaving Association (RNLA) who were making their way down to the beach, and we were able to point and jeer ‘Haha. We got there first’ .
We have absolutely no idea what caused the circles.”
A witness at the scene, George Mire told SomersetClive “I can’t be sure, because SMASHH had cordoned off the entire beach, but there appeared to be six burn marks spread at equal distance around the circles. I have no idea what they were.”
By the time your trusty SomersetClive reporter got to the scene the tide had been and gone and had taken all evidence with it.
