After two Public Consultation sessions, held at difficult times to ensure the minimum number of people could attend, Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council has now released an online survey to try to ascertain exactly what SaD residents would like to see the town council take on from the All-New-Yet-Unimproved Scrooge Cuonty Council, to help save it from bankruptcy.
The survey, which is available online at the Town Council website (if it is working) has been described as the ‘Most UnUser Friendly Interface Ever’, as anyone wishing to complete it will need access to a printer to be able to print out the form prior to filling it in. Residents then need access to a scanner in order to scan the completed pages before emailing them back to the Town Council – who are currently having problems accessing their emails.
A SaDTC spokesperson said “This overly-complicated and convoluted survey is designed to limit the amount of responses received.
We have also set a deadline of next Monday to receive the completed forms, so residents have only a short time frame to source a printer, ensure it has ink, find a biro, fill in the form, locate a scanner, scan the form and attach it to an email.
With any luck only about six people will be able to complete it.”
The form itself asks residents to confirm which of the services currently provided by ANYUSSC they would like to see SaDTC pay for and gives the option for residents to choose three areas from a list of seven including transport, toilets and tourism.
The form then asks which of the services currently provided by SaDTC residents feel are important, with residents asked to tick boxes to indicate if they are happy to continue to spend over-the-top sums on Christmas Trees, Dictator Dullard’s parties, the Climate Rescue Action Plan (CRAP) and the White Elephant Enclosure.
There is no space available for comments or suggestions and the Consultation exercise has been described as ‘a waste of time that merely pays lip service to the idea of taking residents views into account’.
The amount of the increase to Council Tax payments for SaD residents is yet to be revealed, but initial estimates suggest a figure equal to funding five and a half White Elephant Enclosures, Christmas Trees, Christmas Lights, an ice rink and an arch for a year is the most likely sum.
