What’s On
The final event of the year at the White Elephant Enclosure takes place this Saturday and much will be made of the fact that it’s a sell out.
BABA tribute bands are always popular with the modern Smalltown audience and this event is no different, with all but a handful of tickets sold.
190 tickets at £20.94 means the sum of just under £4000 will be added to the WEE income. However, the event is probably being run on a split basis, with 75% going to the act and the WEE actually getting only £1000 plus whatever other costs can be added – technician fees, cleaning, credit card costs, and a figure dreamt up by the Smalltown Culture and Arts Manager (SCAM), Susie Cookbook for no reason whatsoever. .
It should be noted that the full £4,000 will be included in income figures for the WEE, in an attempt to demonstrate how successful it is, however even the full £4000 is but a drop in the ocean compared to monthly expenditure costs of around £18,000.
With no further events scheduled until late January the SCAM can look forward to doing nothing for over a month, whilst the Smalltown Culture and Arts Media Promotions Individual (SCAMPI) will also be able to take time off from spending 30 minutes a week scheduling posts on AceCrook, as it is very difficult to market events when there aren’t any.
None-the-less, even whilst closed, expenditure in the WEE will continue apace for six weeks, with all fixed costs still due, which amounts to approximately £27,000 with no real income, apart from a few small rental costs, to cover it.
Isn’t it gratifying to know that your hard earned cash is being spent on such a vital service?
