At the White Elephant Enclosure tickets for the Smalltown Excellent Entertainment Society’s performance of Toad of Toad Hall, a riotous comedy based on the escapades of one S.Teflon, have been selling well. Something which will no doubt make the Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council White Elephant Enclosure Mismanagement Committee and the new Smalltown Permanent Arts Manager (SPAM), Susie Cookbook, think the WEE really is on the up.
Unfortunately, much like the Smalltown Pantomime Society, most of the tickets are sold to the family and friends of the performers and SEES do their own promotion for the event, leaving the Smalltown Culture and Arts Media and Promotions Individual (SCAMPI), May Tricks, twiddling her thumbs and superfluous to requirements.
It is likely that SEES have hired the WEE for their shows and so should have qualified for the reduced hire fee. Any money over and above the cost of hiring the venue should be paid direct to SEES, less the cost of credit card fees, booking fee, technician costs and anything else WEE staff can dream up to keep the money.
Toad of Toad Hall is booked for two performances with an evening run on Saturday and a matinee performance on Sunday.
At the Blitz Cinema, Padraig Irishh continues to show the WEE how easy it is to get bums on seats with screenings of several new blockbuster films, with tickets available for a mere £4.00.
The South West’s premier live music venue, The Old Jetty Inn, has a real rock band playing real music, in a real atmosphere with real beer tonight. Admission is free.
