Smalltown Area Ship Hovercraft and Helicopter (SMASHH) held a successful fundraising day on Sunday, when half a dozen families took part in the first ever ‘Trial Trail Trail’ which saw groups of people trail from one end of Smalltown Seafront to the other.
Spokesperson for SMASHH, Trina Highe said “It was a great day. We raised more money in a few hours than the Really Needy Lifesaving Association (RNLA) did all week. Even if they do have a shop in Main Street.
We weren’t at all put off by them being visited by their big boss. We don’t have a big boss. We are just a small little charity who have been in Smalltown far longer than they have.
We did see them mid-afternoon pushing their boat out from under cover to give it a hose-down. But it was too late. We hosed down out equipment in the morning, everyone had seen us doing it and weren’t interested in the RNLA hosing methods. SMASHH were on the tea and biscuits by the time the RNLA woke up. They are always late to the party.”
SMASHH has confirmed that the ‘Trial Trail Trail’ was such a success that they are planning to run the event again next year, but will rename it the ‘Trail Trail’ for obvious reasons.
