This Saturday will see the White Elephant Enclosure, Blitz Social Club and Smalltown Community Centre compete to offer the best Celebratory Coronation Celebration Live Screening event.
Smalltown Community Centre will be opening its doors at 9.30am, catching the build up action, as well as the main event, on their big screen. The Community Centre is hoping that their comfortable seating and early start will see them gain a head start in the competition. Teas, coffees and light refreshments will also be available.
The Blitz Social Club will be open from 10am, and is already laying claim to “The best seats in Smalltown for the Coronation”. In order to tempt people through the doors the Blitz have laid on a full spread with with sandwiches, cupcakes and scones. Added to which they have beer, to help celebrate the occasion.
The doors of the White Elephant Enclosure won’t be open until 11am, which means anyone attending will miss seeing the guests arrive at Westminster Abbey as well as King Henry IX and the Queen Consortium proceeding down the Mall.
Anyone attending the WEE event will be asked to leave at midday, but given how uncomfortable the seats are, this is probably the best option. A free cream tea is on offer to anyone who pre-books a ticket.
With the vast majority of residents likely to prefer to either watch the event unfold at home, or ignore it completely, it remains to be seen which venue will prove the most popular (although our money is on the Blitz).
Thanks for the warning. We won’t bother visiting Smalltown till the whole farce is over
God save the Queen
