Councillors keep themselves busy

Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Councillors based at the Hayloft Road Palace Retirement Home for Bemused and Bewildered BeFuddled Party ex-Teachers (and Others) have recently spent several enjoyable afternoons taking part in the Coronation Celebration Codger Councillor Craft Club, where they have been improving their sewing skills under the watchful eye of needlework teacher Cllr Eugenie Sherry .

Cllr Sherry said “We’ve had a great time! I am indebted to the Headmistress Mayor Kelsey Dullard who came up with the idea of a Councillor Craft Club after her Christmas Care Home tour of Smalltown saw her visit lots of pensioners who were trying to fill their days by doing something useful with their time.

As pensioners ourselves we councillors often find ourselves in the same situation. Sat around in the staffroom at Hayloft Road Retirement Home with nothing to do but talk about nothing, so when Mayor Dullard suggested we try needlework to pass the time between lovely cups of tea we jumped at the chance.”

Mayor Dullard said “I’m delighted that my lovely colleagues have taken my lovely idea on board. We are currently working on a project which will bring joy and cheer to the residents of Smalltown and which will help them meet their obligations under the recently issued Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD)Town Council diktat ‘All householders must display bunting for the Coronation‘.

We have all been very busy sewing lovely red, white and blue flags onto string which will look wonderful when it is hung around Smalltown.”

Residents in Dullbridge who may be interested in obtaining some of their own Councillor Coronation Bunting have been advised to make their own.
