Having successfully received funding of £4194 from the Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council Town Unimprovements Committee Meeting last week, the Smalltown Chamber of Trade (SCOT) and the Smalltown Shops (SS) group have revealed their plans to blow the entire amount on a single day of entertainment in Smalltown.
The two groups, working in harmony together as they did last year, have announced their plans separately, with SCOT holding a Breakfast Bacon Butty meeting last week to tell everyone that their Christmas event will build on previous successful Christmas events held in the George Street area of the town and will include a stage outside The George pub, which will feature displays and entertainment from local community groups. The usual funfair rides will also be in this area. This year, following the successful SCOT Jubilee event, it is hoped to include a festive display of classic sleighs.
Meanwhile, the SS has taken to social media to announce their plans via a post on their AceCrook page.
‘A Winter War’ will take place in Smalltown Main Street and will follow the same format as the previous SS ‘Ignite Smalltown’ event, with local groups providing displays and entertainment. The bulk of the budget will be spent on ‘fun festive circus entertainers’ and will include Fun Festive Fire Eaters, Christmas Clowns and Crusty Jugglers.
With Squire Teflon representing the Town Council’s interest and, not forgetting his interest in SS member and close friend, Mistress Bones, it is not difficult to predict which of the two groups will get the lion’s share of the Funding.
The Christmas Light Switch on will take place at 6pm outside the George Pub and then everyone will be encouraged to walk down Main Street to see the Town Christmas Tree, which will be located at the opposite end of Smalltown.
