From the Forum

As the mercury rises in the thermometer I decided to heed the official advice to stay indoors and have been checking the SomersetClive forums to see what our readers think of local issues.

Of course, the topic on everyone’s fingers is the weather.

NURK
What’s with all these weather warnings? We didn’t have such dire warnings of death and destruction in the 1970s when I’m sure the weather was hotter. When I circumnavigated the world in a charabanc I drove through plenty of hot countries and the only advice back then was to drink lots of water.

Are we finally seeing the effects of the climate change I’ve been warning you all about for donkeys years?
I’ve been out and about taking photos of the water levels in our local rivers and lakes and I’ll pop up a separate post of then and now images so you can all see the difference for yourself.

Everyone knows that 30 degree heat in England is hotter than 30 degree heat elsewhere in the world.

Sandman
The advice is to stay INDOORS, so why has NURK been out taking photos of rivers and lakes? He should of stayed at home.

NURK
Should *have*

Sandman
Bore of.

NURK
*off*

He’s okay. He’s wearing a kiss-me-quick sun hat he got from Larry Harrys.

NURK
It’s not a sun hat. It’s a protective hat I knocked up from tin foil to my own design.

PRUE TERRACE
You should know.

Can we get back on topic please?
It’s very hot outside and we’ve been told to stay indoors. Why can’t people heed that advise?

Beerbottleman
I’m not staying in. I’m going down the George to rehydrate myself.

NURK
Guys – if you stay hydrated you won’t need to worry. I’ve availed myself of the free water available outside the Blitz Social Club. I’ve filled all my water bottles in case there’s a drought and I’m going back later with some two-gallon cans to get some more.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from my travels through the poorer countries of the world it’s that some people are haves and some people are have-nots and I’m going to be a have.

OPERATIONPIGMUCK
THERE WON’T BE ANY WATER LEFT AT THE BLITZ LATER. THE TRAVELLERS WILL HAVE TAKEN IT ALL.
