The Smalltown Culture and Arts Manager (SCAM), Debby Karmary, has found yet another weapon in her store cupboard of genius ideas to fill seats at the White Elephant Enclosure.
“This time I think I’m really onto something.” the SCAM told SomersetClive, “My screenings of old films didn’t go as planned, with people not keen to spend a fiver on films that they could watch for nothing on their TV at home, so I’m trying a new approach.
Come to the White Elephant Enclosure, watch a film and Give Any Money – Buy Tickets (GAMBiT). That’s right! We are going to be screening films and viewers can decide what they want to pay. They can pay whatever they think think a trip to the White Elephant Enclosure is worth! From ninety-four pence to ninety-four pounds, the decision is yours! (Minimum ticket cost £2.00).
If this doesn’t get the poorer people in Smalltown and Dullbridge banging down the doors of the WEE for admittance then I don’t know what will. Honestly, I’m almost out of ideas to turn this failing facility into a success and make it worthy of the almost £1 million subsidy it’s received in tax payers money since it opened.
All children who attend the screenings will receive a FREE breakfast of a hot dog and drink. That’s got to be worth £2.00 of anyone’s money.
This GAMBiT has to pay off – even if people aren’t actually paying that much. I need to demonstrate that I can get people into the WEE and if it takes bribing them with free food and drink then I’m in.”
GAMBiT screenings will take place at the WEE every Wednesday morning throughout August.
