Dogs bite back at ban

Smalltown Beach was over run yesterday with a pack of dogs protesting about the introduction of a ban limiting their access to the miles of golden sand and mud. The seasonal ban, which started yesterday, runs until the end of September.

The dogs Setter-pon the local dog warden, who was trying to maintain control by Shepherding them off the beach. The pack tested his Agility by running rings around him and blocking the exit to the beach leaving him unable to Fetch reinforcements.

Organiser of the protest, Rex Hunter, said “We’ve been Collieating data about the number of dogs who frequent the beach and our research shows that’s it’s not us who flout the rules, but our owners. It’s not fair to penalise us, just because some humans are irresponsible and don’t Retriever our mess.

We are Barking mad about this – plenty of dogs visit Smalltown on their Howlidays and we are sure they will find this ban as rePugnant as we do. We’ve had a Terrierific response to our protest today, and hope the council Sit up and take notice.”

Speaking to SomersetClive after the protest local dog warden, Noel Ede, said “It’s been a Ruff day, with Mastiff numbers of dogs turning up. It took a while but I dug my Heels in and managed to curTail events in under three hours.”
