The award-winning North Bluntdrill Players amateur dramatic society’s latest production started its run last night and your trusty reporter was given tickets to the opening night.
With a record for producing humorous farces the show didn’t disappoint and the audience were left rolling in the aisles by the onstage antics.
The show, ‘Who’s in bed with the Squire’ is an uproarious romp, featuring a cast of mainly women, and the comedy centres around the Squire’s hilarious attempts to make sure that none of them find out about each other.
There’s all the usual tricky situations you’d expect in a good farce, as the Squire finds himself in a bit of a predicament when his Mistress discovers that he hasn’t been delivering the papers from his newspaper round but has been hiding them under his bed instead.
The Squire desperately tries to stop her searching his wardrobe, behind the curtains, the toilet, the shower, the chest freezer, under the coffee table and behind the settee, because that’s where he has hidden the seven ladies he was entertaining before his Mistress arrived unexpectedly.
It’s a great show, but does feature a lot of nudity so will be unsuitable for children and those who are normally hard to offend.
Tickets are still available for the next three nights, at a price which is far less than anything at the White Elephant Enclosure.
