Smalltown & Highbridge Independent Super Team (SADISTs) policy statement on bullying and harassment by Councillors:
SaDISTs treat everyone with courtesy and respect and ask for the same in return.
Smalltown & Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council should treat the public courteously without violence, abuse, or harassment. Members of the public have the right to carry out their lives and work without fear of being attacked or abused. Any behaviour whether that be verbal, physical or in writing, which causes members of the public to feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, or threatened, is totally unacceptable.
The zero-tolerance policy should include abuse, aggression or threats made in person, over the telephone or in written communication, including on social media. Members of the public consider threatening behaviour to be:
Attempted or actual aggressive, or physical actions made towards any person. The use of aggressive, or abusive language, (including raising of the voice, swearing, shouting or in writing) which threatens or intimidates the public.
This policy should apply throughout all Council Meetings, but it should also apply to any Councillor away from Council Meetings.
