The first in a series of Blue Plaques has been unveiled by the History Information Society – Smalltown (HISS), in a ceremony held in the Main Street car park.
The plaque, which recognises the achievements of the Smalltown and Dullbridge Duplicated Events by Sycophants Team (SaDDEST), is one of several commissioned by HISS to highlight elements of Smalltown history which might otherwise be brushed under the carpet and forgotten.
To coincide with the unveiling HISS have also produced a leaflet, which is available from the Smalltown Tourist Information Centre Kiosk (STICK), to remind residents and visitors of some of the features the town has lost thanks to the combined efforts of Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council and Sadgebore District Council.
Further plaques will be installed over the coming months.
