Playpen plans approved

Plans for the new Playpen on the Seafront Lawns in Smalltown have been approved by both Sadgebore District Council and Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council this week.

Work on the playpen, which had to be moved from its previously planned location after the residents of Mendip Manor woke up at the very last minute and invoked the covenant which gives them the right to veto anything fun planned for Smalltown, will begin after Easter and should be completed in 2036.

The Playpen is being funded by the Chernobyl By Sea Slush Fund, whilst the additional costs incurred by having to change the location at the very last minute will come from Sadgebore District Council’s Give In To The Scant (GITTS) fund

Currently the plans include only one piece of play equipment – the village stocks – but the designer believes that, with help from Town Councillors, this will see a lot of use.

It is hoped that a pillory, whipping post and ducking stool will be added at a later date to make the Playpen even more attractive to both residents and visitors.

Squire Teflon said “I support it and very much look forward to it – we need it – and I’m very much looking forward to playing on the slide. My close-friend, Mistress Bones, has said that if I’m a very good boy she will take me there after I’ve delivered all the newspapers and push me off the swing.”
