At least half a dozen people popped into the White Elephant Enclosure on Sunday to see the idea the Same Old Smalltown (SOS) group is proposing to make the town more attractive to visitors and residents.
Visitors to the event were able to see the progress made by SOS so far and to see the vision the group has for the town. Having spent time looking at the issues SOS has concluded that a ‘Welcome to Smalltown’ sign is the only thing missing.
(Ed – we know it’s missing. It’s been missing since the Illiberal Party were in charge of SaD TC and ‘forgot’ they’d purchased one. Anyway, hasn’t anyone told SOS that we aren’t allowed to talk about it?)
As SOS has now replaced the Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council Unimprovements Committee the onus is now on the group to improve Smalltown, although the group itself was set up by Sadgebore District Council with the remit to benefit businesses in the town, so local council tax payers can look forward to their money benefiting business owners and traders, rather than themselves.
Chair of the group, Ruth Accrington-Stanley said “It was a great to see a slow trickle of people throughout the event, with appearances from several Town Councillors, Dictator Dullard and the BeFuddled Party Prospective Parliamentary Missing Person, Clara Scullery. Although that was to be expected, as she would attend the opening of a crisp packet if she thinks there’s the possibility of a photo opportunity.
We were delighted to share our journey so far and the idea we have come up with.
We are excited about our vision for Smalltown, because it’s taken a lot of discussion within the group to get to this stage but we firmly believe that the visitor experience to Smalltown will be enhanced by the introduction of a ‘Welcome to Smalltown’ sign.”
SOS is made up of two residents who have lived in the town for around ten years, two residents who have been here for two years and two people who don’t live in the town, so they could be forgiven for not knowing that their new idea isn’t new at all.
However, having studied the new vision for the future of Smalltown Dictator Dullard said “It was good.” So that’s okay then.
