The Dullbridge Christmas Light will be switched on tomorrow as part of an event designed to bring some sparkle in to the lives of residents.
From 2pm there will be a Christmas Craft Fair in the Community Hall in Merchant Street. Residents are warned that Merchant Street will be closed to traffic from 2.30pm onwards, with a 94 mile diversion in place.
During the day a Shelf Trail will encourage residents to wander around Dullbridge making a note of the 18 fully stocked shelves which are hidden in the shops. Prizes are on offer for the person who finds the most stocked shelves.
The Festive Lantern Parade takes place from 4pm, lanterns are not required. Scores of residents are expected to join in as the parade wends its way around Dullbridge before returning to Merchant Street at 4.30pm for a carol service conducted by His Right Reverendness, Stuart Little, the Singing Vicar of St. Lennon’s Church.
Father Christmas will be stocking up on buns and cakes in Daiseys Bakers from half past four, but if Santa is not your thing then the Grinch can be found at Berate Me.
The fun will build up to the main event at 5pm when the Grand Switch on of the Dullbridge Christmas Light takes place, with residents gathering around the first of the two World’s Most Expensive Christmas Trees purchased by Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council, the costs of which could have purchased Christmas lunch for more than half of Dullbridge residents and still left change for a less expensive tree.
Whilst Smalltown’s Christmas Lights Switch On Event has been partially funded by a grant from SaDTC, the Dullbridge day has been organised independently by Our Dullbridge, a community-led group of individuals and business owners who, incensed by the lack of attention paid to Dullbridge by Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council Council, work together to ensure that residents in Dullbridge have something to look forward to.
