Punch ups return to Smalltown

Traditional seaside fights will be returning to Smalltown Seafront this August, after the All-New-Yet-Unimproved Somerset Cuonty Council granted a concession to hold the punch ups to ‘Promoter’ Pete Peeler.

Promoter Pete said “I’m delighted to be returning to Smalltown once again. These traditional seaside fights have their roots in the 1960s, when groups of disaffected young men would turn up on a Bank Holiday Monday, split themselves into two factions – mods or rockers – and exchange lighthearted blows.

We’ve moved on a lot since those days, thanks to the Equal Rights for Women movement and my fights now feature men against women, together with the occasional dog who acts as the catalyst by stealing the sausages the men have prepared for the women’s tea.

I know there have been claims that these fights encourage domestic violence, but a direct link has never been proven, and I always have an ex-policeman nearby as security in case events get out of hand.”

SomersetClive understands that Legend in his own Bedroom, Founder and CEO, of the Let’s Talk Total B*llocks unsupportive service, Levi Smeller, will be guest speaking at the events. If he has finished reorganising the office.
