Smalltown Promenade has seen long traffic jams this week, due to temporary road closures, as filming began again on the new Channel 94 serialisation of SomersetClive’s very own Steve Gull’s ‘Love in a Smalltown‘.
Shots for the 94-part series were originally filmed last year in Bream and several areas of Smalltown, including the Promenade, Hayloft Road Palace Retirement Home for Bemused and Bewildered BeFuddled Party ex-Teachers (and Others), and Mistress Bones Newspaper and Tat Emporium in Jetty Street.
However, leading lady Fawn Drench, cast as Mistress Bones, later pulled out of the production saying “I can’t do this. It’s such a horrible story. I really don’t want to be associated with this in any way.”. She has now been replaced by ‘The Only Way is Smalltown‘ star, Emma Rollins.
Rollins said “When I read the scripts of ‘Love in a Smalltown’, I knew I wanted to be involved. I say involved, but what I mean is, I haven’t had any paid work for a while, so I really wanted to be part of this project.”
I am really excited to be taking on this role. I have a reputation for being a bit of a diva, and playing the part of the b*tch, so I’m sure I can do the part justice.“
Ms Rollins was spotted on set wrapped in several electric blankets, clutching a steaming mug of tea and valiantly battling to keep her hair in place between takes as she endured Smalltown’s famous ferocious freezing winds.
