Readers have been calling in to the SomersetClive news desk with reports of storm damage in the area. Hurricane Harold has brought devastation to Smalltown and Dullbridge with readers noting that their recycling bins have been rolling around the streets and garden furniture has been overturned.
A reader reported that their Sycamore tree has been “… denuded of leaves. You just don’t expect that at this time of year.”
Another reader expressed concern about the Ignite Smalltown official Christmas tree. “Which bright spark thought it would be a good idea to site it in the middle of the car park? It’s teetering terribly in such an exposed area. I can’t see it staying there much longer. We don’t see that problem with the other tree outside the George Inn.”
One reader called long-distance to tell us “I don’t know what happened. One minute I was in my static caravan looking out of the window at the sea, then there was a lot of banging and somehow I’m now in Arkansas.”
A spokesperson for Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council issued an official statement: “For once the chaos really is nothing to do with us.”
