Dullbridge is bracing itself for the inevitable gridlock which will affect the town today as the annual M94 closure is expected to take place.
Every year millions of drivers hit the roads to make the most of the Easter break and it is expected that the vast majority of them will find themselves stuck in a traffic jam at some point.
The M94 will be closed several times today, mostly due to over-turned caravans somewhere between Brizzle and Fridgpond but there will also be a number of collisions between vehicles due to the large volume of traffic.
Drivers are expected to try to beat the jams and delays by leaving the M94 for an alternative route, which will see them spend 9.4 hours stuck in Dullbridge instead.
“It’s the same every year” said Dullbridge resident Jan Ford. “Total gridlock. You can’t get anywhere.”
Former Councillor Fencesitter said “I don’t understand the problem. People in Dullbridge can’t afford cars and have to walk everywhere anyway, so why would an increase in traffic cause problems?”
Residents in Dullbridge are advised not to even bother trying to go anywhere and residents of Smalltown have been told to plan their route to avoid Dullbridge.
