Residents are reminded that a meeting will be held this evening at Hayloft Road Palace Retirement Home for Bemused and Bewildered BeFuddled Party ex-Teachers (and Others) to see if anyone has any bright ideas to share to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty the King which will take place in May.
Ideas currently on the table include a Hayloft Road School Cake Sale or a Chateau Park Sports Day. Headmistress and Town Mayor Kelsey Dullard has suggested a ‘Marathon Tea Drinking Session’, whilst Mistress Jones and Lady Brassy of the Smalltown Shops (SS) group have mooted the idea of a seven day closure of Main Street to allow for a ‘Commemorative Coronation Celebratory Cake Cavalcade’ .
Meanwhile, members of the Illiberal Party are supporting an idea to erect a gold plated statue of Squire Teflon on the empty plinth outside the White Elephant Enclosure.
It is understood that SaDTC are especially keen to hear ideas because, unlike the Jubilee celebrations, this time they have remembered that the event is happening and have put some extra money into the budget to cover any costs.
The Smalltown New Administration Guru (SNAG) Katie Global said “It is really important for residents to contact us with their ideas, because otherwise the SS will be putting in their own bid for the cash and we all know who that benefits.”
Anyone who may be washing their hair or watching paint dry this evening can also submit their suggestions via an email to Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaDTC) Town Council or send their idea scrawled on the back of a postcard to Hayloft Road Palace.
Residents in Dullbridge are advised not to bother wasting the cost of a stamp because it is highly unlikely that SaDTC will want to spend any of the available budget on an event in Dullbridge .
