An injured beer is being cared for by the team at the Blitz Social Club in Smalltown after it fell off the bar late on Friday.
Pale Ale, manager of the Blitz Social Club said “The beer had only just been poured and placed on the bar, when a punter’s elbow made contact with the glass and knocked it to the floor.
Members of staff immediately picked the beer glass up and placed it back on the bar, but a quantity of liquid remained on the floor. We deployed a mop, bucket and ‘Danger – Wet Floor’ and reminded customers to avoid the area for a few hours.
Some of our customers did drop to their knees during the incident in an attempt to lick up the beer from the floor, but unfortunately were unsuccessful in their attempt to revive it.”
Mr Ale has issued a timely reminder to festive drinkers saying” Pints of beer are at their most vulnerable at this time of year, as we have a lot of people who are not used to drinking heading out to celebrate the festive season. Some of these people are not used to handling their drink in the correct fashion and, unfortunately, the large numbers of people in drinking establishments means that jostling is inevitable and accidents will happen.
I would remind customers that here at the Blitz Social Club, in common with other public houses in Smalltown and Dullbridge, we have a great deal of experience in dealing with these types of incidents and staff are always on call to help with the clear up.”
