Chernobyl-by-Sea Power Station has confirmed their plans to take over HM Prison Camp Don’tins in Bream.
Addressing councillors at the Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Planning and Scheming committee meeting at Hayloft Road Palace on Monday, Andy Cocksure said “We have been told by the Government that we need to get on with building Chernobyl-by-Sea C Station, and to do this we need workers. We need somewhere for those workers to live and have agreed with HM Prison Service that we can take over part of Don’tins to ensure we can offer accommodation.
Obviously we will need to spend a lot of money to improve the accommodation – current and past inmates at the site have long complained about the inhumane conditions which greet them on arrival and this is not something we would expect our workers to endure, so we plan a major upgrade and refit.”
Squire Teflon asked if there would be any money left in the budget to improve the roads saying” I’ve noticed that when I drive to Bream to visit my close friend Mistress Bones, my car has to negotiate several large pot holes in the road. Whilst this would normally be something my colleagues at the All-New-Yet-Unimproved Somerset Cuonty Council Highways department would deal with, they have a long list of roads which need improvement, so perhaps you could see your way to filling those holes to make my journey more comfortable.”
Cllr Eugenie Sherry asked if the workers would be allowed to use the onsite swimming pool, noting that swimming is very good exercise and would be a far better use of the worker’s social time than sitting around in pubs drinking beer.
Meanwhile, Cllr Banish Barracuda whispered something about allowing local residents to use the buses laid on by Chernobyl-by-Sea to transport workers from Don’tins to their place of employment, but added “Obviously only for those residents who want to go from Bream to Chernobyl and are prepared to leave at 5am and return at 6pm.”
Mr Cockshaw confirmed that he would take their comments into consideration, but in all liklihood would completely ignore them.
