Inmates at HM Prison camp Don’tins in Bream have spoken out to express their shock and upset at the news that that the park will not be closed on Sept 19, and they have to stay there.
“It’s totally unfair” Inmate 52981732 told SomersetClive. “Why couldn’t they follow the example set by Central Larks and send everyone home a day early? Everyone there has received a letter telling them to shove off. Even people booked in for a week have been told to go home on Monday morning and come back on Tuesday. I just don’t understand why Don’tins can’t do the same. Unless it’s because they know none of us will return once we’ve made our escape.”
A spokesperson for Don’tins told us “We are conscious of our responsibilities to the general public. Even such an auspicious occasion as HM Queen Victoria II’s funeral is not something which will guarantee early release for those incarcerated here. No. They booked themselves in here and no one can leave until they’ve done their time.”
SomersetClive understands that the management of the camp will be issuing every other chalet with a portable black and white television so that everyone can watch the proceedings. A non refundable deposit of £594 is required prior to installation and there is no guarantee that any of the televisions will work.
