The Smalltown Regal cinema plays host to a new action movie this weekend, a sequel to the blockbuster ‘Project Coach’ which wowed local audiences, but failed to capture the imaginations of tourists.
In the film, seasoned action star Mark Facelift brings his squad of crack tourist information officers together again to help their beleaguered home town to recover from the ravages of a mutant virus which has left the inhabitants reluctant to leave their homes.
Facelift’s intrepid assistant, Dick Trolley, retrieves the infamous Project Coach from storage in a nearby Sea Cadet Hut and restores it to almost roadworthy condition. What follows is an action-packed mash-up of Sandra Bullock’s “Speed” and Cliff Richard’s “Summer Holiday” as the heroes battle marauding Highways Officers in an attempt to block the Freeway and force tourists to detour into their town.
In one nail-biting scene, the gang race to the aid of a pensioner who is marooned at the extreme end of the promenade, miles from the sole public convenience. On their way they encounter angry developers who are determined to build a mini-golf facility against the wishes of a small minority of the locals.
Project Coach II is showing at the Smalltown Regal this weekend. Tickets are surprisingly easy to come by.
