SomersetClive Editor Clive Saint’s run of bad luck is continuing after he was late for work again this morning.
After losing one of his socks last week, it has been revealed that his bicycle is the latest victim of what could be a vendetta against him.
“Yes. I’m late again” Mr Clive told the reporters sat around the office twiddling their thumbs. “I had to walk to work this morning because someone has taken my bicycle.”
Mr Clive told us that he had gone out to Smalltown’s Willow Arms pub for a meal and drinks with a group of friends on Saturday night, leaving his bicycle propped up against a bench in Main Street.
“Although I couldn’t see the bicycle from where I was sat, it was only a ten minute walk away and I planned to pop out on a regular basis to check that it was okay.
I had conducted two security checks already, and I can assure you that it was entirely coincidental that my sudden need to check my bicycle coincided with it being my turn to get a round in. On the third occasion my good friend, and SomersetClive correspondent, Piers Boreman, offered to check my bicycle for me, so that I could remain in the bar and get the drinks in.
It was at this point that the discovery was made. My bicycle had gone. Piers immediately returned to the bar to raise the alarm. We all went out to conduct a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate my bike.”
Mr Clive returned to The Willow Arms to finish his beer and call the authorities. Smalltown Police have confirmed that they will be conducting indepth interviews with all parties and are interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious, in the hope of locating Mr Clive’s missing bicycle and ‘Wednesday’ sock.
