Book signing on, off and on again

World renowned local author, Nicholas Voyd, has confirmed that he will be appearing at G.W. Hurlings to sign copies of his latest book. It comes after the event was postponed during the week when Hurlings discovered that they didn’t have any stocks of the book and were unlikely to get any in time.

A spokesperson for Hurlings said “It came as a total shock to us when we discovered that online book retailer, Optimus Prime, would be unable to deliver copies to us for Saturday. Luckily, Nicholas was able to secure some copies of his book for us to sell on his behalf, so we have unpostponed the event and fans of the author will now be able to have him personally inscribe their books.”

SomersetClive’s reporter and fellow author, Steve Gull, spoke to Nicholas about the feared cancellation and he said” “It was awful and caused so much upset amongst the my female fans in Smalltown. They follow me everywhere I go and can often be found skulking on the beach, hoping for a glimpse of me, so you imagine how much they were looking forward to a reason to meet me.

I couldn’t bear the thought of all the tears, so I’ve been onto my publisher and managed to secure some copies so the event can still go ahead.”

The latest book in the series, ‘Carnivoo Capers’, follows the exploits of Mr Magoo Carnivoo, as he dons a hi-viz vest and attempts to handle road closures. Will he be able to whip his band of over-zealous Carnivoo Marshals into shape and ensure they get all the traffic cones in place before the big day?

Trouble comes in the form of a misplaced firework, intended to signal the start of the event. Where is it? Who has it? Where did Mr Magoo Carnivoo put it?

With the start time of the Dullbridge and Smalltown Carnivoo getting later and later, and with Mr Magoo Carnivoo running around like a headless chicken, can any of the over-zealous Carnivoo Marshals find a new firework to ensure the parade can go ahead? Or will the event turn into a damp squib?

It’s a riotous ride of thrills and spills which should stir vivid memories in the minds of Carnivoo aficionados, of times spent in the cold, stamping their feet with impatience and asking each other “Why does it never start on time?”. For those new to Carnivoo the book will give a hint of what’s in store.
