Banish Barracuda has released a statement on behalf of the BeFuddled Party apologising for the lack of free buns.
In their pre-election manifesto the BeFuddled Party had promised Free Bun Fridays but have had to backtrack on the policy.
Cllr Barracuda told SomersetClive “Offering Free Buns to residents had been a mainstay of our manifesto, however, it seems that the Illiberal Party were correct and this is not something that we will be able to carry through.
When I accepted the keys to the main office at the Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council at Hayloft Road, one of the first things I did was open the petty cash box.
Inside I found a note which read “Ha ha. There’s no money left. We spent it all on the White Elephant Enclosure.”
Regrettably this means that, until we get the opportunity to hike council taxes in the area, we will not be able to distribute buns.
We are very, very, very sorry about this. It was not our intention to let down the residents quite so early in our incumency, we expected to be able to wait at least three months before having to renege on our election promises.”
Residents who are disappointed with the lack of buns are asked to direct their ire towards Squire Teflon and his cohorts as it is they who left the note in the petty cash box.
