Sussex Water has confirmed a three-year closure of a major route through Smalltown as part of a plan to improve traffic chaos in the New Year.
The road, which connects Smalltown to the Costa Del Bream, will be closed completely and a 94-mile diversion will be put in place.
A Sussex Water spokesman told SomersetClive: “It’s been a while since Sussex Water last closed this road. Every other utility company has closed this section of road in recent years, bringing misery to local residents and businesses, so we felt that it should be our turn now.”
Chief Executive of Sadgeboor District Council, Bob ‘Bobby’ Green reportedly told locals: “If you need to get anywhere you won’t be able to, so tough.”
