In a p1ss-poor display of its ‘Passion for Somerset’ , the All-New-Yet-Unimproved Somerset Cuonty Council yesterday became involved in promoting Somerset Day, which will see a handful of events taking place in tiny pockets of the county this weekend.
Whilst the events are coordinated by Passion4Somerset, which is a Community Interest Company, ANYUSSC are a partner and could have put a little more effort into publicising the day.
Indeed, residents of the area are more likely to have seen advertisements from Smalltown’s Food Festival organisers, Margot and Felicity Farmhouse-Kitchener, as they promote their Somerset Day Food Festival, taking place in Toytown on Saturday.
ANYUSSC’s sole contribution to the weekend of celebration is to suggest that residents pack a picnic and eat it in their local park. However even that pathetic idea pales into insignificance when compared to the effort put in by Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council, who apart from purchasing a Somerset flag in 2023, have allowed the day to entirely pass them by.
