The first of this year’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Parties will take place on Sunday in Smalltown’s Chateau Gardens, with residents invited to attend ‘Squelch in the Park’.
Often described as Smalltown’s version of the Dalstonbury Festival, the line up features a host of top local musicians and is organised by Smalltown’s (Previously) Most Popular Person, Councillor Jock ‘Balcony’ McCads. The show is part-funded by Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council who handed over £2000 in funding at this week’s Finance and Malfeasance committee meeting, despite the request not being made during the usual SaD TC grant funding meeting.
“It’s going to be a great afternoon”, said Cllr McCads,“As well as the great music there will also be several stalls selling great ice creams, great burgers and great alcohol.
I will also be wandering around selling raffle tickets and taking the time to check out women’s cleavages and make inappropriate comments.”
I’ve raided my collection yet again for the raffle prizes and there are some real corkers on offer, including a full set of Page Three Stunner posters, signed Reader’s Wives photos (slightly soiled) and a selection of Carry On videos.”
The afternoon kicks off at noon and wellies and raincoats are compulsory. Cllr McCads will be setting an example by wearing his dirty mac.
