There was very sad news for youngsters in Dullbridge this week after it was confirmed that the Dullbridge Youth Club would be closing due to a lack of volunteers to run the project.
The Club, which meets once a week, provided a safe, fun place for youngsters to go after school and has previously been praised for their work by Somerset Police and Headmistress, Mayor and Dictator Cllr Kelsey Dullard who in January last year said “I was pleased to visit the Dullbridge Youth Club to see all the young people, because young people are the future and we need to encourage them to do well at school. It was good to meet members of the new committee and to watch a thriving provision for the town. “
Unfortunately, since then the Club has experienced a loss of Committee Members and volunteers and, despite appeals, has failed to find any new blood.
Meanwhile, Dictator Dullard is still desperately seeking nominations for her ‘Celebration of Youth’ awards as well as press-ganging children at Queen Ethelred’s School to join her Youth Council, both projects are seen to be a waste of time by local youngsters.
Isn’t it a pity that neither she nor her fellow ex-Teachers at the Hayloft Road Palace Retirement Home for Bemused and Bewildered BeFuddled Party ex-Teachers (and Others) have considered volunteering for the Dullbridge Youth Club, where their skills as former teachers could actually come in useful for once.
