The Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council White Elephant Enclosure Mismanagement Committee scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and moved to February 8th.
It is understood that the reason for the move is two-fold. Firstly, the WEE has been shut for the period following the last WEE Mismanagement Committee meeting in mid-December and is not due to reopen until the end of January. This means that absolutely nothing has changed since the last WEE Mismanagement Committee meeting.
Secondly, this meeting was added to the calendar following the fallout from the December 2022 WEE Mismanagement Committee meeting, after the SaD Town Council Finance and Misappropriation refused to accept the original £240,094 budget request and asked the WEE Mismanagement Committee to try again, leading to an extra last-minute meeting being added to the 2022 calendar.
During that meeting the Smalltown Culture and Arts Manager (SCAM), Debbie Karmary, pointed out that increasing income as had been suggested by the F&M Committee was “impossible” and resigned.
It is believed that this week’s meeting had been scheduled in case the proposed 2024-25 WEE budget request for £179, 400 was similarly rejected during the Finance and Misappropriation Committee held last night.
However, during a private BeFuddled Party meeting Deputy Dictator Cruella Sherry, managed to get prior agreement from her fellow councillors to leave the WEE budget alone and to agree to the huge subsidy without question during the Finance and Misappropriation meeting.
Therefore, BeFuddled Party members, together with Illiberal leader, Squire Teflon, agreed that there was no point holding a further meeting in January to discuss the WEE budget as it would be accepted without question.
Furthermore, as six members of the WEE Mismanagement Committee also make up the 11 member Finance and Misappropriation Committee, it was unlikely that any of them would reject the WEE section of the full budget, as they had all voted it through in the first place.
Despite the WEE taking £1 from every £5 of Council Tax income, SaD Town Councillors are keeping their heads firmly in the sand and are hoping that yet again ‘This year will be the year the WEE finally makes less of a loss than it did last year“, a statement that has been trotted out every year for the past 13 years, after Squire Teflon saved the WEE for the nation by paying £1 from his own pocket for it.
