Friday night at the White Elephant Enclosure sees the very latest trend in popular music making an appearance. Muddy Dolly will be taking to the stage to give residents an earful of the new ‘Frock and Bowl’ phenomen which is sweeping the country.
Tickets for the show have been selling well, which just goes to show how forward-thinking residents of Smalltown and Dullbridge really are.
However, anyone hoping that this will see a big swell in the WEE’s finances are likely to be disappointed, as the venue has been hired for the night at a set fee and this the artist will be taking the lion’s share of the income.
On Saturday night it’s another tribute artist – this time songstress Katie Hedge. Tickets for this haven’t sold quite so well, but at least it hasn’t been cancelled like some of the other tribute acts booked during the year. The event is another straight hire, the cost of which goes nowhere near covering a day’s operating costs at the WEE.
If music is your thing then you may be better off visiting the South West’s premier music venue, The Old Jetty Inn. Friday night brings a return to the 1970s, with a performance by a tribute featuring the very best of Ham Rock.
On Saturday night Singing Landlord Tom Portman will be taking to the stage himself. Popular with the Local Crowd, Tom will be belting out a selection of songs which he says will be guaranteed to get toes tapping. Both of these events are free, so audience members can enjoy several pints of beer with the money they will save by not going to the WEE.
The Blitz Cinema continues to show alltje latest block buster film releases and will undoubtedly have a bigger audience share than the two people who attended the last film screening at the WEE.
