At the White Elephant Enclosure
An extra last minute event was added to the White Elephant Enclosure schedule for August, bringing the number of events held in the venue this month to an incredible two.
As well as seeing the latest blockbusters, including the box office record breakers Garbie and Hoppenhighmer at the Blitz Cinema, film lovers were offered the chance to pop along to the WEE to catch the latest old film yesterday afternoon.
’12 Angry Women’ was first screened in 1957 and tells the story of 12 women who must decide if the charges levelled against one man accused of being a sex pest are valid or not.’
The film showing was part of the ‘Five Film Club’ named in honour of the maximum number of audience members the old film screenings attract.
Unfortunately the newly appointed Top Secret White Elephant Enclosure Consultant, now employed as the Smalltown Provisional Arts Manager (SPAM1), failed to market the event anywhere, so audience numbers totalled two.
Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council once again purchased a DVD of the film from online retailer Amazing and it is hoped that the £10 taken in ticket sales covered the purchase price.
