RIDBID ‘not dumped’

Sadgebore District Council has revealed that their pathetic Re-Imagine Dullbridge (RID) scheme, which failed to secure funding from the Government’s Levelling Fund, will be taken on by the All-New-Yet-Unimproved Somerset Cuonty Council.

Sadgebore’s RID Bid was a hastily cobbled together plan which offered absolutely nothing in terms of regeneration but, instead, could have hastened the decline of the town, as it sought to limit traffic and remove car parking spaces from the Town centre and plant trees in their place.

Residents were deeply unsupportive of the scheme, describing it as ‘window dressing‘, ‘failing to address the main issues that face the town‘ and ‘akin to sticking a plaster on a corpse’.

Dullbridge traders and residents attended a meeting prior to the bid submission to lodge their objections to the plan, but both Sadgebore and Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council completely ignored their concerns and pressed on regardless.

So it came as no surprise that the traders and residents breathed a collective sigh of relief when they heard the RIDBID had been rejected, however, Councillors at Sadgebore District and Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council all declared themselves to be ‘disappointed‘.

Still declaring himself ‘disappounted‘ Rick Plate, Sadgebore’s We’re Not Listening Manager said “We’ve handed over the rather slim file which contains details of the RIDBID, and the All-New-Yet-Unimproved Somerset Cuonty Council has promised to put it up on a very high shelf where it will only ever see the light of day again if there is a possibility of a further round of funding and ANYUSCC can’t think of anything better elsewhere in Somerset to spend any money on.”
