Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council has confirmed that they have approved an award of £150 to the Smalltown Chamber of Trade (SCOT) to run an ‘ISpy Royal Regalia’ event in the town.
In a twist on the traditional SCOT-run ‘ISpy Something in a Shop Window’ competition, which takes place annually in Smalltown, this time items will have a Royal connection. Visitors to the town will be invited to stand outside shops until they spot the item.
In a further twist SCOT confirmed that they will be working together (actually together) with the Chamber of Business Benefiting the Local Economy in Dullbridge (COBBLED), who will run a similar competition in their own shop windows.
A spokesman for SCOT said “We’ve actually written to the Palace – Muckingham, not Hayloft Road – to offer to take Prince Handrew, the Duke of Pork, off their hands for the day. We are hoping to be able to place him in a shop window for the weekend of the event.
We are sure they will look favourably at our request, otherwise we will have to ask former pop star Barry Fidler to stand in for him, and I’m not sure residents will welcome him back to Smalltown.”
Questions were later raised as to why Squire Teflon’s close-friend Mistress Bones and Lady Brassy of Easton-under-Water’s Smalltown Shops (SS) group hadn’t requested funding for their plan to close Main Street for two weeks to hold their planned ‘Celebratory Coronation Cake Celebration with added Maypole’ but it was revealed that Squire Teflon was waiting to see how much money was left in the pot.
Squire Teflon is expected to ask for the money during an upcoming Planning and Scheming Committee meeting.
