Volunteers from the Friends of Barrow Beach took part in a beach clean on Saturday picking up litter from the sand. Over 30 people attended to remove thoughtlessly discarded plastic which had washed up on Barrow beach during the recent high tides.
Joining the volunteers was Headmistress and Mayor Cllr Kelsey Dullard who later told SomersetClive “I was delighted to be able to take part in this wonderful event. I managed to bag 194 lovely used tea bags, which I have carefully separated from the plastic waste. I will be drying these out and taking them to the wonderful staff room at the Hayloft Road Palace Retirement Home for Bemused and Bewildered BeFuddled Party ex-Teachers (and Others) where they will be reused to make lovely cups of tea for councillors and staff.”
The Recycle, Reuse and Retea initiative is part of Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council’s Climate Rescue Action Plan (CRAP), with Cllr Dullard explaining that “The 3 R’s are the fundamental basics of education and reteaing is a subject very close to my heart. I would dearly love to see every one of our wonderful Smalltown and Dullbridge residents join me in recycling their tea bags.”
