The team behind the Smalltown and Dullbridge Area Foodbank have expressed their gratitude to members of the Society of Secret Handshakes, Handgrips and Handgestures (SSHHH) after receiving a donation of Christmas food and toys for distribution to residents who are struggling with the Cost of Living Crisis.
“It’s so heartwarming to see that there are still people in Smalltown and Dullbridge who genuinely care about those less well off, rather than just pretending that they do.” said the team’s Marion Bashful. “SSHHH provide us with year round support which is of great benefit to those in our communities who struggle between eating and heating.”
SSHHH delivered several trolley loads of Christmas fare and toys to make Christmas special and more comfortable.
SSHHH member Jim Nose said “We spoke to Smalltown and Dullbridge Foodbank to understand what they needed. A recent appeal in Tescoes saw many kindhearted local residents donate essential food products, so we decided that it would be better to donate some more luxurious items such as mince pies, sweets and cakes, the little things which make Christmas but which many families simply can’t afford.”
Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council has agreed to support residents who may be experiencing problems during these difficult financial times and recently added a ‘Cost of Living Advice’ section to their website, but residents are advised not to bother trying to find any information about food banks, because there isn’t any Foodbank advice listed.
