The Smalltown Cake and Tea (SCAT) group celebrated their 94th anniversary this week by sharing cake and tea.
Members of the group meet every month to drink tea and eat cake and everyone is encouraged to bring a cake to share.
Organiser of the group, Patty Bunn, said “A love of cake is compulsory, because sometimes so many of our group bring cake we end up eating our body-weight in sponge.”
Group member Cllr Catty Staring brought along a special cake to mark the occasion, and told SomersetClive “I baked this cake on the day of our first meeting, 94 years ago. Since then I’ve brought it along to our meetings every single month, but no one has ever eaten it. I’m hoping that this month someone will finally have a slice.“
Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Mayor and Headmistress, Cllr Kelsey Dullard, was noticeable by her absence, with a group member telling SomersetClive” We did consider inviting her along, but quickly realised that she would drink all the tea and eat all the cake.”
