Singing Milkman, Jimmy Dean, looks set to enter local history books tonight as his self-organised show at the White Elephant Enclosure is close to sellout.
Smalltown Culture and Arts Manager (SCAM) Debby Karmary said “It’s true. For the first time in the history of the WEE, it looks as if almost all the tickets have been sold for this event and I haven’t had to lift a finger to do it!
Jimmy approached us to hire the WEE for the night and I’ve charged him the usual hire rate, with no concessions even though it’s for charity. This means he’s been free to set his own price for tickets and by not charging the WEE’s normal exorbitant ticket prices they’ve been selling like hot cakes, with literally only two handfuls left.
I’m hoping this could be the start of something new for the WEE. I’m seeking to move away from booking tribute acts who cost an absolute fortune to appear and will now be seeking to book singing local tradespeople.
I’m interested in hearing from any Smalltown and Dullbridge residents who are in full time employment but who can also sing. Perhaps a Singing Herpes Delivery Person, or a Singing Vicar, or a Singing Supermarket Shelf Stacker, or even a Singing Barber – , if you sing whilst working I want to hear from you.
This could be exactly what I need to finally turn this failing flop of an elephantdrome into a success.”
