Work begins on fountain

Former Mayor of Smalltown and Dullbridge, His Royal Highness, Lord Admiral Emperor Nelson Jones, First Duke of Smalltown MBE, OBE and Knight of the Living Dead’s dream of an offshore fountain visible from Smalltown seafront moved a step closer to fruition recently.

Workers at Chernobyl-by-Sea can currently be seen installing the underground pipes which will pump water from the seabed up to the fountain head.

Nelson Jones first proposed the idea of a fountain in 1898, saying that “A water feature in Smalltown Bay is exactly what we need to attract visitors to Smalltown. The ‘Dancing Fountains’ in Las Vegas are extremely popular and I see no reason why we shouldn’t have something similar between Smalltown and the medieval castle at Chernobyl-by-Sea.”

The fountain components are currently being lifted into place by cranes which are mounted on floating barges the size of 94 football pitches.
