Programme makers seek help

Producers of a new Channel 94 show to be called The Great British Auction Off, have appealed to residents of Smalltown and Dullbridge for help.

Chas Long, a researcher on the programme, said “We are looking for a range of astonishing and unexpected items that people are willing to put to auction – from ancient to modern, arts to artefacts with the weird and wonderful in between. In our bespoke auction house we’ll invite the most passionate buyers to be in the room to bid for these items.”

SomersetClive readers are being encouraged to search the area for any items they think may be suitable. The programme producers have already been inundated with a job lot of ‘Welcome to Sadgebore’ signs, but are desperate to hear from anyone who knows the location of the famous ‘Welcome to Smalltown’ iron sign.

Chas said “The Sadgebore signs are becoming increasingly common amongst collectors and the bottom has fallen out of the market for those, as we are seeing more and more of them on sale as Sadgebore edges ever closer to its demise. However, the Smalltown sign remains elusive and is the ultimate prize for Hieroglyphologists, as no one is sure if it still exists.

“We also understand that Smalltown was once home to an ice rink and that’s exactly the sort of item we have in mind for our auction, as it fits perfectly into the unexpected category. We’ve already reached out to Squire Teflon and his close-friend Mistress Bones, the brains behind the Smalltown and Dullbridge Duplicated Events Social Team (SaDDEST), but they both deny any knowledge of the current location of the rink, so if anyone else knows where it is please get in touch.”
