What’s on… Rave reviews for comedy

Classic television show ‘House of Commons’ has opened to rave reviews in Smalltown and Dullbridge!

A hilarious local version of the comedy is being performed at Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council’s office in Hayloft Road, with local residents playing the part of Councillors and staff!

The main performances take place on a fortnightly basis – unless cancelled at the last minute due to unforseen circumstances – with matinĂ©es performed Monday to Thursday with limited cast members.

Watch in disbelief as the new intake of BeFuddled Party councillors try to act as if they know what they are doing during a council meeting, whilst Squire Teflon exudes an air of superiority and tries to get in a few cheap shots to make everyone else look bad. Laugh out loud as everyone scrabbles around looking for their pencils which have mysteriously gone missing.

Headmistress and Town Mayor, Kelsey Dullard, puts in a sterling performance as chair of the Town Council committee meeting (understudies may appear on the role for minor committees), but can’t resist replying to members of the public and fellow councillors in a patronising manner – “Thank you for your lovely contribution. That was quite good.

Very few of the cast members have speaking roles, with most merely looking shocked and uncomfortable if called upon to contribute.

This reviewer said “It’s hilarious from start to finish. From the moment I took my seat I was on the edge of it, watching in amazement as staff spent the first 15 minutes trying to work out how to switch the lights on and then sitting through a meeting where no one had a clue about what was going on! It’s worth going just to see the variety of confused faces that the Councillors can pull.

All-in-all its a great show with everyone putting in a splendid performance as they try ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ by pretending to be a fully functioning Town Council.

This one is not to be missed!”
