As the crowds descend on the Somerset village of Milton for the Dalstonbury Festival is has emerged that the World’s Oldest Living Popstar, Sir Paul McBeetle, is to play a warm up show in Chrome before taking to the main stage.
Tickets for the show at the town’s Cheese and Grater Entertainment Arena (CAGE) went on sale yesterday at 5pm and had sold out by 6pm.
It later emerged that representatives of Sir Paul contacted Smalltown’s White Elephant Enclosure to ask about the possibility of putting on a performance here.
“We contacted the Smalltown Culture and Arts Manager (SCAM) but she said ‘Sorry? Paul who?’.
After we explained who he was she told us that she didn’t think he would appeal to the local audience in Smalltown as he isn’t a tribute act.
We did offer to get him to perform some of his older popular hits from his career with his band The Beetles, but the SCAM told us that his musical style just isn’t ‘middle of the road enough’ for Smalltown.
We then contacted the Cheese and Grater who were more than happy to accommodate us.”
Music at the Dalstonbury Festival starts today and all SomersetClive staff and associated hangers-on have bagged free tickets and will be there.
