Readers are reminded that the Smalltown Chamber of Trade (SCOT) Classic Boat and Race wil be taking place in the town centre today, with Main Street flooded during the afternoon to enable the boat race to take place. Over-zealous Carnivoo Marshals will be on hand to deny access to anyone not in possession of a rubber ring.

Meanwhile at The Hayloft Road Retirement Home for Bemused and Bewildered BeFuddled Party Ex-Teachers (and Others) (formerly the Smalltown and Dullbridge (SaD) Town Council offices there will be a display of ‘Royal Underwear Through the Ages‘, featuring artefacts collected and collated by the Smalltown History and Heritage Society (SHHS).

Amongst the items on display will be a padded codpiece believed to have belonged to Henry VIII, a pair of bloomers left in a Smalltown bathing hut in 1894 by Queen Victoria I, when she visited the town to partake of the healing mud, and a pair of Prince HandyPandy’s tighty-whities.

SomersetClive has been treated to a preview of the exhibition and it really is one not to miss. Especially if you want to avoid the forecast rain. Open from 11am to 4pm.

Meanwhile, St Genesius Church will be the venue for a ‘Tea and Tart Party‘ hosted by the Archbishopness of Smalltown and Dullbridge. Speaking exclusively to SomersetClive (and God) the Archbishopness said “We will be offering tea and tarts in the church grounds during the afternoon to celebrate the Titanium Jubilee. There wil be a.wide variety of tarts to choose from, including jam, and we welcome everyone to come along for an afternoon of fun, prayer and self-flagellation.
